A Better Way to Begin
A foundational update focused on how players experience HŒMË — a new guided introduction, a reorganised Settings area, deeper national identity controls, and a clearer way to follow what is changing across the simulation.

HŒMË is growing. So is the way you experience it.
Building a nation should be challenging because of the decisions you make — not because you are trying to work out where to begin.
As HŒMË has grown, so have the systems that players are responsible for managing. Population, food, housing, employment, infrastructure, national finances and government decisions all form part of a nation that continues to develop over time.
That also means HŒMË needs to do a better job of introducing itself.
This update focuses on the experience around the simulation: helping new players understand their first steps, giving returning players clearer control over their nation, improving how national identity is managed, and creating better ways to understand what is changing across HŒMË.
It is part of a wider effort to make HŒMË easier to understand without making the simulation itself less meaningful.
I
A New Player Introduction
HŒMË begins with possibility.
You have a nation to develop, a population to support and decisions to make — but knowing what to prioritise first can make the difference between understanding the simulation and simply wondering what you are supposed to do next.
A new guided introduction is being added for first-time players.
The purpose of the tutorial is not to play the game for you.
Instead, it will introduce the fundamental HŒMË gameplay loop and help players understand how to begin developing their nation.
The guided experience is designed to help new players recognise the systems that require their attention, understand where important information can be found and begin making their own decisions with greater confidence.
Returning players will also have the ability to restart the tutorial from Settings if they want to revisit the guidance.
II
Settings, Reorganised
As HŒMË grows, Settings needs to manage more than basic preferences.
The Settings area has been reorganised into clearer administrative sections so players can more easily manage their nation and their gameplay experience.
The new structure includes:
National Identity — manage elements that represent the identity of your nation, including access to your national flag.
Government Administration — access administrative controls including Migration Policy.
Automation Policies — manage the systems and decisions that the player chooses to automate where automation is available.
Player Guidance — access guidance-related controls, including the ability to restart the HŒMË tutorial.
Danger Zone — a clearly separated area for destructive actions such as deleting a nation.
This restructuring is designed to give Settings room to grow alongside HŒMË rather than becoming an increasingly crowded collection of unrelated controls.
III
Your Flag, Your Nation
National identity is an important part of HŒMË.
Players can access and edit their nation's flag directly through the National Identity section of Settings.
The Flag Designer provides controls for creating and updating the visual identity of a nation, with changes reflected across the HŒMË experience where the national flag is displayed.
The Flag Designer is also receiving continued refinement to improve the accuracy and consistency of emblem placement across the flag canvas.
This includes work to ensure emblem positions visually match their intended locations and remain consistent across different emblem sizes.
IV
Better Guidance Beyond the Tutorial
The guided introduction is only one part of improving how HŒMË communicates with players.
As the simulation becomes deeper, players need to be able to understand not only what is happening, but why it is happening.
HŒMË will continue improving the way information is presented across the game, including clearer system explanations, more useful player guidance and better access to information about the systems affecting a nation.
The goal is not to remove discovery from HŒMË.
The goal is to make sure players have enough information to make meaningful decisions.
V
What's New in HŒMË
Players should not have to guess what changed between visits.
The new What's New in HŒMË experience is being designed to provide concise notices inside the game when important updates, improvements or new systems are introduced.
For players who want more information, those notices can link here — to HŒMË Whitepages.life — where the change can be explained in greater depth.
This creates two levels of information:
Inside the game: a quick explanation of what changed.
On Whitepages.life: the full story — what changed, why it changed, how it works and what it means for your nation.
This article is part of that new relationship between HŒMË and Whitepages.life.
VI
HŒMË Continues to Evolve
HŒMË is a growing simulation.
Some improvements make the world larger. Others make the systems deeper. And some simply make it easier for players to understand the nation they are already building.
This update focuses on that foundation.
Better guidance. Clearer administration. More control over national identity. And a better way to keep players informed as HŒMË continues to change.
There is much more to come.
But first, you should always know where you are — and where you can go next.
